‘Aideen Dearg of Stone Ridge’ is a very special cow who we would happily keep in our breeding herd! She is a young cow in her prime with a long breeding life ahead of her, and she will be an asset to any breeder.
Aideen is a traditional smaller-framed Highland, who is very structurally correct and has plenty of Highland character. She is a highly fertile and maternal cow, who calves easily and without assistance, and has an outstanding udder. She’s had three calves, and conceived on the first cycle each time, including to AI as a heifer. Aideen’s pedigree is outstanding. She is the paternal half sister to our cow Brianne Ruadh of Stone Ridge, the 2023 AHCS National Show Senior Champion Female, and 2023 Ekka Small Breeds Interbreed Champion Female. Aideen is also the maternal half sister to a previous national show Supreme Exhibit (‘Jeannie of Dun Airchill’).
Aideen was halter broken as a calf but has not been on a halter for several years. She loves handfed treats, and can be brushed in the paddock by people that she knows and trusts. Although she’s not generally affectionate with strangers, she been known to take a liking to some of our guests and approach them for a brush on the neck. All on her highness’s terms of course!
Aideen has a 2 month old red bull calf at foot, ‘Burt’, who will be castrated prior to sale. This represents an opportunity for Aideen’s buyer to recoup some of the purchase price, by selling Burt after weaning.
Price: $20,000 +gst (cow and calf pair)
Aideen is only available to breeders registered with the Australian Highland Cattle Society.
