Help the Mid North Coast Recover

Visit, Support Small Businesses & Help Our Community Recover

In May 2025, the NSW Mid North Coast was devastated by a 1-in-500-year flood event. Record-breaking rainfall caused severe flooding across the Manning Valley, affecting towns like Taree, Wingham, and surrounding rural communities. What began as a minor flood warning rapidly escalated into an unprecedented disaster. Homes were destroyed. Roads and essential infrastructure were wiped out. Entire herds of livestock were lost in fast-moving floodwaters. For many farmers, years of hard work were undone in a matter of hours. Many local families are still coming to terms with the damage, and full recovery will take years.

At Koolah Creek Highlands, we were among the lucky ones. Although access to our farm was cut off and we’ve sustained damage to our fences, roads, dams, and pasture, we had high ground to keep our family and Highland cattle safe. We’re now open again, with new dates released for our Highland Cattle Experiences and Photo Sessions from mid-June, and your visit can make a real difference - not just to us, but to the entire region.

Why Your Support Matters

Many families on the Mid North Coast have lost everything. Small businesses are struggling. The emotional and financial toll is enormous - and recovery will take years, not months. Every booking at Koolah Creek helps us recover and feed our animals this winter, but the impact of your visit can reach far beyond our farm.

Here’s How You Can Help:

Spend Local When You Visit - by choosing to explore nearby towns like Taree and Wingham, you can directly support small businesses that have been affected by the floods. We encourage all our guests to:

  • Dine at local cafés and restaurants

  • Buy local milk, produce, and handmade goods

  • Explore small shops and local attractions

Every dollar spent locally makes a meaningful difference in the lives of people struggling to get back on their feet. Please be kind and patient - many in our community will be rebuilding for years to come.

Donate to Trusted Flood Relief Efforts - if you're able, please consider donating. We’ve provided links for organisations providing real, direct help to those most affected.

Vounteer Your Time - if you’d like to volunteer your time to help those in need, register with the MidCoast Community Flood Response. This group is coordinating clean-up efforts in partnership with the SES, ensuring volunteer support is respectful, well-managed, and truly useful in this very sensitive time.
